What is CHAKO?
A national Dog Owners' Education and Advocacy Group! CHAKO is for all dog
owners, of all breeds, pure and mixed, show, pet or working,
all over the United States.
CHAKO does NOT have 501(c)(3)
status. Not having 501(c)(3) status allows us to fight for dog
owners, without restrictions! We fight, and we fight hard! We
hold public education events, offer CGC testing periodically,
and battle laws that
adversely impact responsible dog owners. Those are just
some of our activities that benefit dogs and dog owners.
However, we need
YOUR help. Our strength is in numbers, so please become a
member or, at the very least, check out our shirts or
bracelets.
Is CHAKO
breed-specific?
No! We advocate for all breeds of dogs (and, by extension,
their owners)! We lobby and support the rights of responsible
dog owners across the U.S., regardless of their breeds of
choice! What does (or will) CHAKO do?
In part we:
- Write Letters to
Politicians
- Offer Canine Good Citizen
Testing
- Place anti breed
discrimination ads when necessary
- Produce public service
announcements via web, radio, and/or television
- Endorse or Opposes
Politicians
- Endorse or Opposes
Legislation
- Distribute information to
members
- Assist with Court Battles,
when necessary
- Act as a Breed
Discrimination Watchdog, keeping an eye on the media,
companies, and other organizations that may directly or
indirectly endorse or promote breed discrimination
- Produce documentaries or
other multimedia presentations
- Help educate people about
the rights of persons with disabilities to own and be
accompanied by service dogs
