A week after little Archie-Lee Hirst was ripped to death by a savage dog, The People bought a banned pitbull terrier with worrying ease....

A quick search on the internet revealed hundreds of online adverts from across Britain for the terrifying fighting dogs....

An expert later confirmed that the dogs we bought were pitbulls.

We have now put them in responsible hands. We also spoke to dealers in Liverpool and Birmingham. ...

Year-old Archie-Lee was mauled to death in Wakefield, West Yorks, on December 28 by a seven-stone rottweiler - a breed not banned by the Act. And a year ago, five-year-old Ellie Lawrenson was killed by a pitbull in St Helens, Merseyside. ....

Owning pitbulls is illegal under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, along with dogos Argentinos, Japanese to sas and fila brasileiros. But it has not stopped the sickening death toll of children attacked by family pets....

Debbie Connolly, of SafePets UK, said: "The People's investigation shows the Act is not working. There are hundreds of adverts like these. All the Act has done is make these dogs more attractive to people who are likely to play on their aggressive nature."

My law is STILL not enough......

The girl whose savaging by a dog led to the change in the law 16 years ago last night asked: "Why are Devil dogs still killing so many innocents?"

Rukhsana Khan was left for dead after her face was torn and body ravaged by 23 deep bites. Images of the six-year-old's mauled frame sickened the then Tory Government into drafting the Dangerous Dogs Act.
