A University of Arizona athlete will not have to undergo a painful treatment for rabies, after being bitten by a dog.
The attack happened last Monday near Reid Park, according to the victim Michael Armon.
A girl was taking her family's dog, when the dog apparently got spooked and bit Armon, according to the dog's owner.
Armon says the woman apologized, but quickly took off with the German Short hair.
The dog's owner allegedly read about the story in the news and contacted the victim with the dog's medical history.
The incident is a criminal misdemeanor, says Gerardo Sanchez of the Pima Animal Care Center.
Not only because the dog bit somebody, but because its owner took off -- and it was possible Armon could have contracted rabies. Armon would have had to undergo a 30 day vaccination, if the dog had not been located
