BALL -- Teresa Turley must find a new place to live because one of her dogs looks like he could kill.

The former resident of the Ball Loop Trailer Court says she was evicted from the home she has known for three years because her dog has been mistakenly labeled as a pit bull. She says the dog instead is a mix between a boxer and a Catahoula cur.

Constable Glynda Lincecum, who had visited Turley's residence, disagrees, saying, "It was part pit bull. I've seen a pit bull."

The debate over breed and propensity for aggression in dogs is not unique to Turley and Lincecum. Insurance companies, municipalities, businesses and residential properties are all weighing in on which dogs are more prone to violence -- and in effect, deciding which dogs you may own....

The companies will reject applicants who have Doberman pinschers, pit bulls or chows, he said.

"Some companies don't like German shepherds. It's the aggressive breeds," Turrentine said.
