Ohio Overturns BSL
Toledo's vicious-dog ordinance restricting pit bull ownership was struck down as "unreasonable" by a 2-1 vote of the Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals. Acting City Law Director John Madigan said the city will appeal the appellate court's decision to the Ohio Supreme Court.
For Paul Tellings, the Toledo resident who pushed the case to court in defense of his right to keep his dogs -- two Pit Bulls and an American bull dog said that pit bulls are like any other dog and will be vicious only if raised or trained that way. Tellings retained attorney Sol Zyndorf to represent him, but several individuals and organizations helped him with his legal battle, including Animal Farm Foundation, a non profit organization that donated several thousands of dollars toward Mr. Tellings' legal expenses. Sol Zyndorf stated he is not a member of any of the organizations that contributed funds toward Tellings' lawsuit.
