Follow Up to Cat Mauls Pit Bull

After the story of Tauri getting victimized by a Pit Bull, emails started pouring in. One woman said she was bitten by her cat, and her hand became infected. Another woman said her dog was also attacked by a cat and developed a serious infection. One woman's dog from Colorado dog was apparently attacked the same day Tauri was. She wrote:

Hi there. Are you the same person who's dog was attacked by a cat I her own back yard a couple of days ago? When I was the news the morning I couldn't believe the coincidence. I let my poor dog this past Sunday out to the backyard to go to the bathroom and seconds later she comes back crying and terrified. A cat had attacked her and she was all scratched. I had to take here to the vet...emergency charges, sutures, etc...a couple of hundred dollars. No one to complain since obviously the cat disappeared in the act..I'm . attaching two pictures so you can see some of the injuries. Ayway...just wanted to share that story with you...In the event you're that same person that I saw on the news today...
All the best for you and your doggie.

BELOW is a photo of Yasmin's dog, Sadie:

As for Tauri, she seems to be doing better. Her wound is draining, but that has caused it to open a little bit more, so you can see the little gash on the side.

another email from someone who's dog was also attacked by a cat. Posted with permission from the author:

I read about your dog, Tauri, getting attacked by a cat from The Pit Bull Problem on Myspace. I had a similar incident happen to my APBT, Essie. One evening she was in our backyard which is surrounded by a 6 foot tall wooden
privacy fence. My husband and I heard a commotion in the yard (our dogs are only outside if we are home) and ran out to see what was going on. We have eight dogs and six of them were out at that time. A cat attacked Essie and was hanging from her face when we got out there. Essie was screaming. My husband got the other dogs in the house and I got the cat off of Essie. Essie suffered bite wounds to her face, chest, and front legs. The cat was fine. The only blood on the cat was from Essie. I worked for a veterinary clinic and the vet put her on antibiotics. Unfortunately, I do not know who owns the cat so I got stuck with the bill for the antibiotics.

Essie is a rescue. I used to work for East Baton Rouge Animal Control Center. APBTs are not adopgted out. Essie was left in an abandoned car tied to the steering wheel in the middle of July. Her ears had been hacked off. She had a horrible infection from that. She was about four months old. A rescue group took her and had her ears fixed the best that they could be. I was allowed to adopt her as I had gotten close to her while she was at Animal Control and the director and assistant director knew I would never do anything to hurt her. I bring her to local dog functions as an ambassador for her breed. She is a total sweetheart and loves everyone and everything.
She loves the other dogs and my cats.

Thank you for all that you are doing for this wonderful breed. If there is anything I can do, please let me know.

Sincerely,
Trish Brumfield
