Chako Pit Bull Rescue started in 1997 as the Chako Rescue Association for the American Pit Bull Terrier in College Station, Texas. We relocated to California in 1998. The people below are Chako's driving forces.

Dawn Founder

Dawn is an attorney and published author. She grew up around Pit Bulls, bumping around shows and weight pull contests with her parents and the family dogs, Chako and Rosie.

Dawn founded Chako Rescue in 1997 in College Station, TX. Her first book, American Pit Bull Terriers, Fact or Fiction -- The Truth Behind One of America's Most Popular Breeds was published by Bowtie Press in 2004.

Dawn currently resides in northern California and owns two Pit Bulls of her own -- Savvy and Tauri. She's involved with show, sports, obedience, and, of course, rescue. She also teaches Pit Bull education classes in northern California and provides private consultation services to Pit Bull owners.
