What inspired CHAKO?
Chako inspired CHAKO. Chako was a UKC/ADBA American Pit
Bull Terrier related to Going Light Barney. Going Light Barney
is a dog that unfortunately proved successful as a fighting
dog and developed a reputation as one of the best fighting
dogs of all time. Fortunately, however, this dark world of dog
fighting produced a gentle, courageous soul that came to be
known as Chako.
Dawn Capp grew up with Chako. He was a loving, strong,
patient, and intelligent dog that loved children and happily
let them torment him hours each day by riding him like a
horse, inadvertently stepping on his tail, and sneaking up on
him while he slept just to scream "boo!" Chako not only
tolerated this abuse, he relished the attention. He died at
the respectable age of 15, but he left his impression on the
hearts of those who knew him.
